One of my favorite places to visit during the holiday season is SeaWorld. They have one of the best, family-friendly holiday events in Florida, in my opinion. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend this year, but I sent Ace Reporter Skyler and her family in my place! Sky, aka: my niece, was able to get the latest scoop, take some pictures and report back to me her thoughts and findings.

So what is SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration? Well, up to December 31st they transform the park into a wintery, watery wonderland. There are entertainers around the park getting you into the spirit, special photo opps and special holiday shows. One of my favorite parts of SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration is the Sea of Trees.

The Sea of Trees is over 100 trees on the water, with lights dancing to classic holiday music once night falls. Kids and adults will both love it! You may even run into some Florida snow flurries on your way to the Sea of Trees!

You can also see Ice Skating with the Winter Wonderland on Ice at the Bayside Stadium. My father loved sitting down, relaxing and enjoying the ice skating to holiday music. The skaters are amazing, swerving to fun music and doing amazing twists and turns without falling into each other! And at the end of the show, we remained seated and were able to watch the Firework and Fountain Finale over the water.

The Polar Express is another must-see show. You can either go in as a motion-ride or you can do the “still” version. I don’t like a lot of motion, so we always do the still movie-area, watching the shortened version of The Polar Express and then we were able to see some icy friends in the walk-through portion – polar bears, walruses and whales.

Last year was the first year my family saw O Wondrous Night, telling the story of the reason for the season with live animals, puppets and an assortment of rocking carols.  This year my niece and her family were allowed backstage to learn more about the puppets AND meet some of the live animals!

And of course, Sky says you have to visit Puck at Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. Yes, this attraction is available all year long, but it’s so chilly in there, making up for the fact we are trying to celebrate winter in hot, humid Florida!

And right now, KIDS ARE FREE with PAID ADULT! Get one free kid ticket for each adult ticket. The ticket must be used by December 31, 2014, but it’s a great way to enjoy frosty fun with live shows, playful penguins and with everything from elves to Elmo, and from Santa to Shamu. SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration is where the holiday season meets the sea!
